Clinician-Scientist, Clinician-Investigator, Clinician-Innovator... what's the difference and which is the right research career track for you? What are the joys and tribulations in heading down these pathways? What are the tools and channels of support available to help you grow in these tracks? - A/Prof Darren Lim from NCCS is a Clinician-Scientist with research interests in the development of preclinical/early phase clinical studies of novel drug combinations in endemic cancers. He has won the NMRC Clinician Scientist Award in 2012 and 2017 and published widely in respected journals. He is also Director (Research) of the SingHealth Duke-NUS Lung Centre.
- A/Prof Deidre De Silva from NNI is the Programme Director of the Clinician-Investigator Development Programme of Duke-NUS. As a Clinician-Investigator with research interests in hyperacute stroke care, stroke imaging, Asian pattern of stroke, novel stroke risk factors, and stroke health systems research, she has led several clinical trials among stroke patients. She is also the Principal Lead Mentor for Clinician-Investigators of CCSD.
- A/Prof Derrick Chan from KKH is the Programme Director of the Clinician-Innovator Development Programme of Duke-NUS. As a Clinician-Innovator with research interests in epilepsy, EEG and paediatric neurology, he holds a patent for a hypermotor activity detection system and method. He is also Lead (Culture Building and Developing Human Capital) of the SingHealth Duke-NUS Academic Medicine Innovation Institute and Principal Lead Mentor for Clinician-Innovators of CCSD.
